The executives of the FCIS had a meeting with the European Chief Prosecutor
On 27 February the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Codruţa Kövesi visited the Financial Crime Investigation Service. The Prosecutor had a meeting with Antoni Mikulskis, Director of FCIS, Mindaugas Petrauskas, Deputy Director of the FCIS. During the visit the Prosecutor was told about the activity of the Service, the criminal offences under investigation.
Apart from the visit at the FCIS and the meeting with its chief executives during her visit in Vilnius the Chief Prosecutor also met with the executives of the Ministry of Justice, The Prosecutor General‘s Office, Special Investigations Service.
The decision on the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor‘s Office was taken three years ago. The negotiations on the aforementioned matter were started earlier in 2013, whenever Lithuania presided over the EU. 22 European Member States take part in the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor‘s Office. Presently the preparatory works for the establishment of this institution are in process.
The seat of the European Public Prosecutor‘s Office is in Luxembourg.
